Increasing evidence suggests that changes in the excitability of peripheral and central nociceptive pathways are involved in the development of the majority of chronic pain forms. In this context, impairment in glycine mediated inhibitory neurotransmission is thought to play a critical role in the disinhibition that account for the development and maintenance of central pain hypersensitivity. Glycine receptors (GlyRs) can be assembled as homopentamers (\u03b11, \u03b12, \u03b13 and \u03b14 subunits) or heteropentamers (forming complexes with \u03b2 subunit). Auxiliary \u03b2 subunit is unable to form functional channels without association with \u03b1 subunits. However, previous reports have demonstrated that \u03b2 subunit determines the synaptic localization of GlyRs, as well as the pharmacological profile of glycinergic currents . The role of auxiliary \u03b2 subunit in the modulation of glycinergic currents in chronic pain stages has been less explored. We have recently detected that auxiliary \u03b2 subunit increases their expression in neuropathic and inflammatory animal models of pain. CONICYT Implementaci\u00f3n del primero centro de supercomputo distribuido a nivel nacional.<br \/><strong>Descripci\u00f3n:<\/strong>\u00a0El NLHPC en Chile est\u00e1 dirigido a la instalaci\u00f3n en Chile de una capacidad computacional que pueda satisfacer la demanda cient\u00edfica nacional de computaci\u00f3n de alto rendimiento (HPC), ofreciendo servicios de alta calidad y promoviendo su uso en las problem\u00e1ticas de Investigaci\u00f3n tanto b\u00e1sica como tambi\u00e9n aplicada, con \u00e9nfasis en aplicaciones industriales. En a\u00f1os recientes, el desarrollo de las ciencias aplicadas y la industria ha sido dirigido por el uso sofisticado de las tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n y las comunicaciones (ICT), proceso en el cual HPC ha jugado un rol fundamental.<br \/><strong>Duraci\u00f3n:<\/strong>\u00a02012-2017.
